ADDICTION TREATMENT AND AFTERCARE PROJECT WORKER
FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Cork Simon Community works in solidarity with men and women who are
homeless in Cork, offering housing and support in their journey back
to independent living. We promote a socially just society and campaign

CORK SIMON COMMUNITY ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE
POSITION OF ADDICTION TREATMENT AND AFTERCARE PROJECT WORKER.

PURPOSE OF THE POST: 

Promote and coordinate pathways out of homelessness through addiction
treatment services; coordinate Cork Simon Aftercare Housing and
Support Services.

SOME OF THE KEY DUTIES OF THE ROLES INCLUDE:

* Facilitation and Coordination: Rapidly assess and provide access
to addiction treatment services for clients in homeless services,
ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care, including
pathways towards housing and social reintegration.
* One-to-One Support and Case Management: Provide individual support
and case management for residents in pre-treatment and aftercare
phases, including assistance with accessing housing, work training,
activity-based programs, and recovery supports.
* Collaboration and Networking: Build and maintain strong links with
addiction treatment providers, community organizations, and other
homeless services to ensure coordinated care and maximize available
resources for clients.
* Promotion and Advocacy: Promote the project to residents, tenants,
service users, and other stakeholders, providing information and
encouraging engagement in treatment and recovery programs, and
liaising with families to rebuild support networks.
* Administrative Duties: Manage financial records, maintain detailed
case notes, care plans, and produce high-quality reports for
supervisors and stakeholders, adhering to data protection policies and
reporting requirements.
* Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and
safety policies, conduct regular checks on properties, and participate
in relevant training, maintaining a safe environment for all clients
and staff.
* Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with various Cork Simon
Community teams and external partners to support overall objectives,
provide coverage for other projects when needed, and participate in
meetings and supervision processes.
* Professional Development and Performance Monitoring: Engage in
supervision and professional development, implementing Individual
Learning Plans, and monitor performance through key indicators such as
effective communication, teamwork, quality of reports, and positive
client outcomes.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS POST WILL HAVE:

* At least two years of experience working with marginalized groups,
experience with people sleeping rough and those with complex support
needs, case management, advocacy, relevant qualifications, and
training (drug and alcohol, first aid).
* Understanding the complexities and challenges associated with
homelessness and social deprivation.
* Knowledge of recovery orientation, the cycle of relapse and
recovery, harm reduction strategies, and various treatment models and
addiction services.
* Familiarity with the social welfare system, housing assistance
structures (Rent Supplement, HAP, RAS), and housing referral processes
with local authorities and Approved Housing Bodies.
* Expertise in care planning, assessment, case management, key
working, record-keeping, and report writing.
* Relevant third-level qualification, drug and alcohol training,
first aid training, full clean driving license, and access to a car.
